The Advent Season is a time of preparation.
As children at St. John School, the four weeks before Christmas seemed like an eternity. Yet the Advent Season at school also brings back many fond memories: The prayerful lighting of the Advent Wreath and the prayers in each classroom around the wreath; how many re- member the building of the Jesse Tree in church with stacked boxes twenty feet high with baby Jesus at the top! Ahh, the good old days!
Fortunately the Advent activities still prevail today, but time has taken its toll on our 65 year old building and its surrounding grounds. At a recent Alumni Board Meeting, the group was apprised of several areas in our school that need attention. The north playground/parking lot needs repair; the electrical system in the classrooms needs updating; to stay competitive, technology has to be improved and WIFI needs expansion.
If only a very generous St. John Alum would step forward and offer to cover these areas of need, but until that time, the Alumni group continues with the Classiest Class Project and appreciatively accepts any and all donations, which in turn benefits St. John School.
Prepare ye the way, the baby Jesus is coming!
