First Sunday of Advent

Prepare the Way of the Lord

The season of Advent provides us with wonderful Sunday scripture readings, helping us to “Prepare the Way of the Lord”. Besides our weekly liturgies, there are additional opportunities to assist us in our inner preparation to celebrate Christmas:

Morning Masses are offered daily, where we can be nourished by God’s Word and Holy Communion.

Tuesday evenings the Symbolon series helps us to glean deeper meanings from our Catholic Creed.

Advent Prayer pamphlets, to be used at home, are available at the church exits.

An Advent Morning of Reflection on December 6th has been prepared to provide some precious time for considering the profound gift God has given us in Jesus.

The outdoor Nativity scene will receive a formal blessing at 5:30 pm on Saturday, December 13th, and there will be a personal pilgrimage of outdoor Nativity scenes throughout our city.

A communal Penance service is offered on Monday, December 22nd to help us cleanse our inner selves, making room for Jesus to dwell in each of our lives.

The parish advent wreath, lit at each Mass by persons from the congregation, helps us to focus on Jesus “Our Light”. It marks the passing of each of the 4 weeks of Advent, as it beckons us to ready our hearts, savoring this blessed Advent time of spiritual growth.
